Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles in specific points on the body. Each point or combination of points varies according to individualized treatments. The insertion of needles into the muscles increases circulation to area of pain or injury, decreases inflammation, and allows taut muscles to relax, resulting in quicker overall recovery and alleviation of pain.

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) - Acupuncture

If you have been in a motor vehicle accident, you are entitled to accident benefits coverage. Your primary health care practitioner (Doctor, Chiropractor, or Physiotherapist) may prescribe Acupuncture as part of your treatment plan. Our office requires a copy of the approval letter and additional paperwork related to the MVA claim.

Child & Youth Acupuncture

For children, acupuncture works to activate the body's self-healing abilities. The effects will vary and can be noticed immediately or may take several treatments to see improvements.

Acupuncture treatment provided to children at our clinic may involve needling and/or needle-free methods. At the time of your child's booking and appointment, you can request a needle-free treatment.

Our massage therapy sessions provide relaxation and therapeutic benefits to support your overall well-being. Both treatments are provided by a Registered Massage Therapist and can be directly billed to your insurer (please check your benefit coverage for massage therapy).

  • In 2020, completed Shoden and Chuden level training in Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho and Komyo ReikiDo with Marianne Goetsch.

About Sarena, Dr. Ac

Sarena Armsworthy, practicing as an Acupuncturist since 2013, is a registered member of the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA). Her passion for health and medicine led her to pursue four years of studies in health sciences prior to immersing herself in Acupuncture.

Throughout her educational journey, Sarena acquired extensive experience in audiology, diet and health management, family medicine, otolaryngology, and physical therapy. These encounters deeply influenced her perspective, fostering a profound appreciation for both Western and Oriental medicine. Sarena firmly advocates for the integration of these two approaches in disease prevention, healing, and health maintenance.

In 2020, following an extensive search, Sarena discovered her Reiki mentor. Embarking on her Reiki journey, she completed the Shoden and Chuden level training in Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho and Komyo ReikiDo. Sarena characterizes her sessions as meditative, prioritizing patient relaxation. She aspires to advance her training to the Shinpiden level in the coming years.

Sarena’s treatment approach is characterized by comprehensive, individualized care across various conditions. Drawing from her extensive studies in both Western Medical Sciences and Traditional Chinese Medicine, she integrates diverse perspectives to empower her patients to embrace their optimal health and well-being.

Outside of her clinical work, Sarena enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, creating memories and enjoying family life. She has over 10 years of martial arts experience, primarily in the Bujinkan Taijutsu arts, and has also trained in Karate and Iaido.
